【Introduction】
On 3/Feb, I started working at SD Lab School UPI!!
My instructor was Ms.Fivty Travika Sukuma, and we were in charge of 5C bilingual class.
I was going to teach English to the students.
The task for me in 1st week is to observe the class.

【Characteristic of the students】
There are 3 classes in 1 grade-1. Islam class, where the students learn Islamic lesson, 2. Bilingual class, whose students can speak both Indonesian and English, and 3. Normal class. The students in bilingual class, where I taught to, have backgrounds like that they had lived in foreign countries, or their parent is English speaker. The class consists of around 20 students. It is smaller than a class in Japanese elementary school, which has around 30 students. It enables a teacher to pay attention more to each student.

【Insight through classroom observation】
In this part, I will write what I noticed through classroom observation.
First, students are very active and engaged in the class.
Second, the learning obstacles for the students is to comprehend the grammar and to write correct English. Although they speak English fluently, they seem to have difficulty in comprehending English grammar systematically, and writing correct English. For example, they sometimes put an uncountable noun after “There are…”. Also, they sometimes asked teacher “How do you spell …?” or made mistakes when they spelled the words. Therefore, what the teacher is required to do in class is to make them clearly understand the English grammar and practice writing.
・Third, there were various levels of students’ English ability even though it was bilingual class. Some students easily understand what a teacher told and finished the task, but the others didn’t. That’s why it is important to check and follow each student’s understanding.
